Missouri cave tours at a glance

Most Missouri cave tours are guided walks on lit paths. They last 50 to 80 minutes and cost between $23 and $36 for an adult in 2026. Beyond that standard tour, you can choose a ride-through tour in carts, a cart tour on a 2.5-mile loop, a lantern tour, a flashlight tour or a wild tour with helmet and headlamp.

Pick by comfort first. Stairs, narrow passages, standing time and the cave temperature matter more than the length of the tour. Each cave runs on its own season, and some tours only run on summer weekends. Prices below are for 2026. Taxes and booking fees may come on top.

Missouri cave tours: frequently asked questions

Which Missouri cave tour suits families with young children?

Fantastic Caverns is a seated ride, and young children up to age 5 are free with a parent. Smallin Civil War Cave has a step-free standard tour, and children aged 3 and under are free. Marvel Cave has many stairs, and children under 8 need a supervising person.

Which cave tours are wheelchair accessible?

The Smallin standard tour is designed for wheelchairs and scooters, and Fantastic Caverns offers wheelchair access. Stark Caverns is about 80 percent suitable for wheelchairs. Meramec Caverns, Talking Rocks and Mark Twain Cave are not wheelchair accessible. No stairs does not mean accessible, so ask before you go.

Do I need to book a cave tour in advance?

Usually not for a single walk-in tour. Meramec Caverns needs a reservation only for groups of 15 or more, and Bridal Cave welcomes walk-ins. Wild tours and group rates need advance booking. Book ahead for weekends in summer if you have a tight schedule.

What should I wear on a cave tour?

Wear closed shoes with grip, because paths can be wet. Cave air is cool all year, from 52Β°F (11Β°C) at Mark Twain Cave to 60Β°F (16Β°C) at Bridal Cave. Wild tours, such as the one at Smallin, require lace-up shoes and clothes you can get dirty.

Can I combine two cave tours in one day?

Yes, if they are in the same region. Onondaga and Cathedral Cave share a park and a same-day ticket. In Branson, Marvel Cave and Talking Rocks are in different places, so allow for the drive.

Is this an official cave tour website?

No. missouricaves.org is an independent guide. It is not run by Missouri State Parks, the Department of Natural Resources, Visit Missouri or any cave, and it is not connected to a tour operator.
